Don Whitney, in new book, aims to 'Simplify Your Spiritual Life'

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (BP)--"Simplify Your Spiritual Life," Donald Whitney's latest book addressing the spiritual disciplines, seeks to help the overwhelmed Christian.

Whitney, associate professor of spiritual formation at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Mo., said he believes the book will have a broad appeal "because both simplifying and spirituality are two hot topics in the culture today."

Released by NavPress, the book offers a relevant application of biblical principles for everyday living from the standpoint of spiritual simplicity. Subjects covered in Whitney's book range from journaling and prayer to fellowship. The book includes a study guide for small group participation.

"I've written the book with the expectation that due to the interest in these subjects today, some non-Christians will also pick up the book just because of the title," Whitney said. "Thus, I've included in the first section a great deal of emphasis on the definition of true spirituality, the Gospel, the uniqueness of Jesus and the exclusivity of salvation in Him, the necessity of a biblical spirituality and the importance of a congregational spirituality."

Copies of the book are available at LifeWay Christian Stores or through Whitney's website, www.BiblicalSpirituality.com.

Among Whitney's previous books: "Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life" and "Ten Questions to Diagnose Your Spiritual Health."
