Bible Study: Sunday, Aug. 25, 2013
NASHVILLE (BP) -- This weekly Bible study appears in Baptist Press in a partnership with LifeWay Christian Resources of the Southern Baptist Convention. Through its Leadership and Adult Publishing team, LifeWay publishes Sunday School curricula and additional resources for all age groups.
This week's Bible study is adapted from the Bible Studies for Life curriculum.
Bible Passages: John 14:1-3; Revelation 21:1-4, 22:1-5, 12-14
Discussion Question: Beyond what the Bible tells us, when you think of heaven, what comes to mind?
Food for Thought:
Once or twice a year, my family hops in the car and makes the long trek from Tennessee to Texas. Depending on which side of the family we're seeing, it is either 11 or 14 hours on the road. We try to merge gas stops, bathroom breaks, and hunger pains into single stops because every time we pull off the interstate, we just lengthen the time it takes to get home. And if we hit a construction zone, our trip gets even longer.
All those stops and delays fade away when we stand at the front door of our family. We're home! And that's all that matters.
Living the Christian life is a long journey. There are stops and delays along the way, but we keep pressing on. Why? Because it's worth it to get home. God has told us what we need to know about heaven. We can be encouraged as we are reminded of the promise of Christ's return and our home awaiting us in heaven.Bible Studies for Life
